About the Event
Are you depleted, worn down and untethered in this season?Â
Do you long for a day to escape to a quiet, nurturing space and reconnect with your self and with God?
Come away to the wild edge of the east of England for a walking retreat. Travel to St Peter-on-the-wall Chapel, one of the oldest remaining places of Christian worship in England, founded by the celtic St Cedd on the captivating Essex salt marshes.Â
Together, we will use the labyrinth three-step structure of release-receive-return to experience this sacred landscape and allow it and the Spirit to restore our souls.Â
Hosted by Fiona Koefoed-Jespersen, spiritual director and pilgrim guide, and with a small group of fellow pilgrims, you will spend the day walking, in guided contemplative prayer, and in listening circles. There will be space to talk, space to be alone in the quiet, and space to reconnect with your body and soul.
We will base ourselves at Othona, an open and inclusive Christian community situated on land near the Chapel. There we will meet, eat lunch, and - if the weather is really dismal - retreat together. As much as possible, we will spend time in this sacred landscape, walking a loop around the headland and spending time on the beach, as well as visiting the Chapel itself.
